light’s gate

Tomas Karkalas' photo
disability indicated a dead end but love broke through the walls of me

This photo as if expresses an overview of my life. If one would look at me the picture may look dark . I’m the disabler. Nevertheless, I rejoice over the sun outside because my family cared for me and enabled me to paint.

my life is full of exciting events, I would be happy if they were an example to someone.

Chinese proverbs teach, “Many complain about their appearance, but no one complains of reason,” “Great graces come from heaven, and small ones come from man.”
In support of these thoughts, I say:

  • Lightning strikes only a tall tree. So why do shrubs tremble on the ground?

Who is the winner?

Life likes the public order, and the fine arts puts that pictorially: the babyish lullabies turn to tales for the children, and the stories for the teenagers grow into the literature for the adult. If we would judge by appearance, it may look like the victory of the material world against the spirituality, yet I do not want to whine – who is the true winner? Either God, or the market?

The Holly Spirit makes my material dependence into the source of blessing : God changes the complaints for the hardships of living with the disability into the gratitude for living

gratitude knows no past

shadows define the light and my gratitude knows no past.
Unfortunately, the modern art galleries orient to profit. That is horrible. While growing I saw the beauty and morality as the highest goals of the fine arts‘ message. I could not then and I can not visualize the history of the creativity as a fight for the cash now too.

The unfair situation tested my belief and so I have found my heart in the hospital for people with the psychiatric disorders. Art therapy looks like the Last Mohican on the current sunset…

How to smile…that would be good for my readers because it was good for me.

I am going to tell how to smile, how to retrieve the wonder. That would be good for my readers because it was good for me. You need just not worry over being wise. All you need is just walk outside  and look around… I thus sit back in an awe. That‘s how I‘m painting – just dive into the palette and stop knowing what would happen further. Now let‘s look together at what have happened.

The drawings I had made once illustrate today‘s readings and breathe in as an awe as the gratitude: the quotes as prove my titles as expand their meaning – make the words we use into the playground creations. Yet there is a trap. If an artist enjoys own creations he loses time on a road and the wonders end on his path. Being the artist means walking on the edge. What‘s on your mind?

Thought of the day

To boast is ugly, but to say “I know everything” is much worse because such thinking kills our gratitude to God for everything we have

gratitude list

sweet autumn - Tomas Karkalas 2010

The gratitude list is not headcount of things we are grateful for but personal approach to life . That’s like the  fairy shoes that transfer irritating puddles on our road into th inspiring reflections that refresh the weary body and make a move.  Such way Art by Tomas appear and digital paintings knock on the heart.
